I shot the video….the grass was very long – not a standard fairway.

he pulls his head up before he makes contact with the ball thats a defiant no no

why is turning your head a no no? I havent sen it written in the golf rules book that you cant lift your head!!! If it works for you…do it. If it doesnt dont do it. Its simple.
BTW hope you make it to the SEC champ and beat Florida!! Boomer Sooner

Hey, i know you like Annika’s swing, yours is smoothing out like hers !
    Looks goood !

I was mucking around at the range recently and found I was strking the ball brilliantly when I turned my head in the downswing. I quicky discarded this method though as I thought it couldn’t be right – but look at Ron……hitting it like a man possessed and completely taking his eye off the ball!
I guess the moral is…..do what feels right for you. I am going to persevere with Ron’s head turn.

can you make a video of swings from a down the line angle? Do you try to keep your right elbow sort of tucked?

lmao he’s lifting his head harcore LOL.

I try this and got great results, I’m sticking to this forever. Just one question is keeping the head behind the ball a myth? Because when I was trying this the only bad shoots that I hit where when I tried to keep the head behind, the best where when I just let everything go and not worry.

    Great method

yeah it def does look like that but what is really happening is his body including head or turning which is what you want… then your gonna think well how does he hit consistent like that. well his eyes move with the ball down the target line so even though his head and body is turning his eyes are watching where the ball is.

his let are is not stiffing up or going straight it is still pretty flexible… if you have ever played baseball you know how loose ur arms have to be during the swing… but if you looked at video you would be shocked at how stiff they look, which is so opposite of how they feel. So yes a picture says a thousand words and most of them are untrue. naturally ur arm will go a little straight becuase of the force from your body rotation but should at all not be forced by ur arms and hands.

That head turn is what all the Swedes do. I have to do it to get myself to swing through the ball, rather than hitting “at the ball”.

It is hard to see in the video but his left arm does flex very slightly at the top of the take-away (like Goosen).

I have played golf with Ron several times and he never fails to come home under par… never! But he always wants me to give him strokes… punk!

The driver looked a little out of sync. I mean your head didnt turn like it did with the other clubs. IT stayed down a little longer. Im wondering how that shot looked in comparison to the others. Anyway, i appreciate this video very much. I have tried this on the range prior to seeing this video (because of annika) and have had success with it, but couldnt convince myself that it is a legitimate way to swing and stillscore well. Great Tempo!

on his swing on most shots isnt he lifting his head far to early?

  17. FairwayJack | Feb 19, 2010 | Reply

Ron…do you rotate around your left heel ?? I like your method and will give it a try

    darsigny,
I know what you mean as far as seeing the ball flight and unfortunatly it’s difficult to track a ball with the limited equipment I have for filming. However, if you live in the LA area, I would be glad to have you come down and take a peek!
    Thanks for your comment.

Actually, that is part of his method. Look for the video “Rotating the head & follow the eyeline” here on his profile. That will show you more about the head turn.

With all shots that are being hit on the ground, I try and rotate around one fixed point. In other words, you can never really stay on your left leg throughout the swing, however, you can minimize the amount of lateral movement that we all over do by hitting balls with the right heel off of the ground which will allow a very small weight shift on the takeaway and encourage a cleaner rotational movement through the hitting area.

Id like to see what kind of ball flight you have. I belive this method might be great but im still sceptic. I wonder if therse a video in which we could see the result of the shots your making.

Your back swing video says not to keep the left arm straight yet every one of your swings on this video has a staight left arm.
