Mario Golf, Nintendo 64. Background: This video was recorded on September 25th 2008. The only par 5 green that can be reached in one shot… and it is almost impossible to reach this green. I enjoyed putting for albatross though

You only need to sink it with the medium putt for that to happen.

Wasn’t there suppose to have a monty mole appearance when you putt in the hole by 50ft+?

I agree that it’s definitely possible. I wouldn’t have said that a week ago…
I’ve been trying to get a HIO on this hole again. (front pin placement, of course) Now I’ve gotten within 5 FEET several times and hit the cup at least 5 times (along with many near misses). The precision required just to get to the green is ridiculous, mainly in the wind direction.
I’m afraid I’ll die before I see a HIO here, though.

After giving this DOZENS of tries on an emulator and only getting on the green ONCE to within 18 feet (17.56, I think, but who’s counting?), I now have the utmost respect for you, Myles, to be able to do this on the real thing. Daaamn this is hard to do!

also, great job myles for getting on the green in one shot on a par 5, even if it’s in practice.
i know for a fact that it’s impossible to do that on any other hole with MG64 characters and clubs only.

i think it’s possible if the pin is on the front of the green (408 yards from the hole), but it is definitely impossible for a back pin placement (421 or 427 yards).
keep in mind he used a full power swing with Metal Mario and a full tailwind and it made the green by about one foot.
myles has done things before that I didn’t think was possible outside of training mode, so I would never count him out of anything, but there’s no way the 421 and 427 pins could be reached in the American game.
